About Prithvi

The Prithvi Vision

Prithvi’s vision is to create a sustainable change in the grass roots .

Prithvi's Goal

Prithvi’s goal is comprehensive rural empowerment.

Prithvi's Mission

Prithvi’s strategy to accomplish its Mission is to empower villagers to take responsibility for the evolution of their communities, developing a platform to participate fully in India’s development and the advances of the 21st century, while retaining the values of rural life.

Empowerment as a Gateway to Development

Community empowerment necessitates first the empowerment of rural women, the backbone of the rural communities and simultaneously the most disempowered members of rural society. Prithvi is dedicated to supporting women in their struggle to find their voice.

Tackling the HIV challenge

HIV / AIDS Touches us All! The HIV epidemic is the greatest threat to rural development in the 21st century, and thus HIV awareness and intervention at family and community levels is a primary catalyst for health empowerment.

Resources

Land is the most important resource of the rural heartland, and its enhancement and protection is a key focus of Prithvi’s holistic program.

Our Values

Prithvi Core Values

Rural Communities are India’s Greatest Resource. A treasure of unrealized people-potential is available in Indian villages that must be tapped and involved for India to reach her potential

In order to utilize this fantastic treasure:

Empowerment must replace handouts
Handouts demean. Empowerment opens the door to participation and opportunity.

Partnership must replace Hierarchy
Villagers are the best experts on resolving the challenges that face them in the 21st century. Communities need support and resources, not experts or quick fixes.

Diversity must replace Discrimination
Respect for the unique experiences and expertise of each person and family is the cornerstone. Working together for a greater good must triumph over stigmatization and ostracism. Each individual has a right to live with Dignity

Responsibility must replace Ignorance
Education is not enough. Knowledge has to be understood and applied.
